Not every treatment suits every person

Arthrosamid® has contraindications and is not appropriate for everyone with joint pain. It is one option among many for joint care. It carries risks including injection-site pain and swelling and, as with any intra-articular injection, a small risk of joint infection.

It is one option among several. Others include weight management, structured exercise and physiotherapy, bracing, analgesic medication, corticosteroid injection, hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation, other injectable treatments, osteotomy, and partial or total joint replacement. Watchful waiting is also a legitimate choice.

Only a physician who has examined you and reviewed your imaging can advise which of these fits your situation.

Regulatory status

Arthrosamid® is authorised by Health Canada for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Health Canada authorisation means the device met the regulatory standard for safety and effectiveness for its authorised indication. It does not mean the device will work for you, and it is not an endorsement by Health Canada of any clinic.
