About
About This Site and the Clinic Behind It
Who operates this website
This website is published by Push Pounds Sports Medicine (also known as Studio Athletica), a musculoskeletal healthcare clinic in Toronto, Ontario.
We built this site for one reason: patients researching hydrogel injections were finding manufacturer marketing on one side and clinical trial abstracts on the other, with very little in between written for a person in Toronto trying to decide what to do about their joint. This site is our attempt at the in-between.
What we do
Push Pounds Sports Medicine specialises in conditions affecting bones, muscles, joints, and nerves. Our care model has three arms:
- Medical — physician-led assessment, image-guided injections, pain medicine, orthopaedic and interventional radiology consultation
- Recovery — physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, naturopathic care, nutrition
- Performance — strength and conditioning, movement screening, body composition and metabolic testing
Osteoarthritis rarely responds to a single intervention. An injection changes the joint environment; it does not change how you load the joint when you walk, climb stairs, or stand up from a chair. Having rehabilitation and medical care under one roof is the reason we can address both.
Our approach to Arthrosamid®
Arthrosamid® is a polyacrylamide hydrogel administered as a single intra-articular injection. Health Canada authorised it in 2024 for osteoarthritis.
We assess every patient before recommending it. Not everyone with joint pain is a candidate — the diagnosis needs confirming, the severity needs staging, and other treatment paths, including doing nothing for now, need to be on the table. Injections are performed by physicians using real-time ultrasound guidance to confirm intra-articular placement.
We will tell you when we do not think a procedure is the right choice for you. That conversation is part of the assessment, not a failure of it.

How this site is maintained
Clinical content on this site is written by our clinical team and reviewed by a physician before publication. Our medical reviewer is Dr. Joseph Menna, MD, FRCSC, Orthopaedic Surgeon. Every clinical page carries a last-reviewed date. Our sourcing standards, review cycle, and correction process are set out in our Editorial and Medical Review Policy.
Transparency
- Arthrosamid® is not covered by OHIP. It is a private-pay procedure. Some extended health plans reimburse; most do not.
- Arthrosamid® is a registered trademark of Contura Orthopedics Ltd. We are a treating clinic, not the manufacturer or distributor.
- We do not publish patient testimonials. Ontario’s regulations for physicians prohibit them in advertising, and we apply that standard across this site.
Contact
Questions about whether Arthrosamid® suits your joint should go through an assessment rather than email. To arrange one, see Contact or call 416-722-3393.
